About Ecosystem Restoration Communities
Joe Brewer arrived in Barichara, Colombia, in 2019, determined to regenerate this unique part of the world. Convincing local residents involved in longstanding regenerative projects to collaborate, Joe describes Earth Regenerators as a living laboratory at the bioregional scale. Their work integrates social and ecological healing through projects like a local alternative currency, “Casa Commune,” using blockchain technology.

How Earth Regenerators builds regenerative foodsystems
‘The owner of Reserva El Totumo, Manuela Gonzales, has set up a watershed restoration project on her finca. She has created contour swales that restore the groundwater supply while building soils in a collection of syntropic gardens that are bringing forest back to her land. Members of the community garden, La Huerta Mi Sol, gather weekly to maintain the syntropic garden while sharing knowledge about textiles, food processing, health and nutrition. It has become a powerful anchor of community activities throughout the last two years.’
They created a study group with over 4000 members navigating difficult questions and transformation into a regenerative future.

Earth regenerators employs soil-building techniques which improve soil fertility, increase water retention, and reduce erosion.
With funding from Mustardseed Trust, Earth Regenerators have maintained demonstration sites, conducted workshops, and advanced the establishment of a syntropic agroforestry school. This support has empowered the community and inspired similar initiatives in other regions.

…integrating indigenous knowledge and modern technology to create innovative regenerative food systems. This approach demonstrates the synergy between age-old practices and cutting-edge solutions, exemplified in their syntropic agroforestry projects that enhance soil health, biodiversity, and water conservation.
