Mustardseed Trust to wholly redistribute
its assets and wind up its charitable
operations.

Since 2001, Mustardseed has been sowing seeds to create wellbeing for all beings. Over the years, we have worked with amazing leaders and their organisations. They all share our ideals and work tirelessly to change systems for a world that works for all. With our grant-making activities we supported our partners to make incredible impact – empowering women and girls, restoring ecosystems, supporting complementary currencies in rural communities, creating increased access to basic income, the emergence of new partnership systems and alternative care systems. Together, we envisioned the care and wellbeing economic models that we advocate for.

Unlike most conventional organisations, Mustardseed Trust has never concerned itself with its own survival. In these times of multiple crises on climate, social and economic fronts, we feel that our resources will do more good flowing directly to those doing radical systems-change work. The time to act is now.

Mustardseed Trust has decided to accelerate its grant-making activities and cease operations by mid-2025 with a view to wind-up within a feasible period thereafter. We have called this next phase our ‘coming into fruition’: it is a realisation of the work we have done over the past two decades. After making this decision, we perceived our ending not as ‘finite’, but circular. We realise that our philosophies, ideals and the accelerated flow of resources will enable our partners to continue making significant impact.

Over the remaining time, Mustardseed Trust will work diligently:

• to preserve Mustardseed Trust’s legacy and vision of a world where all beings co-exist in partnership with the web of life.
• on a process of ‘disintermediation’: ensuring interpersonal integrity with our staff and all stakeholders with the aim of handing over our enabling role to other philanthropists.
• to celebrate that this final stage: we will watch Mustardseed Trust and her partners come into bloom in our last Jamboree in 2025.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all partners who have interacted with us. We are very grateful for the opportunities we have had to be part of their journeys.
