Amidst Uganda’s green landscape rises the African Rural University (ARU). This all-women institution provides transformational education that empowers women to become effective change agents within rural communities of Uganda. At its core, ARU has an educational approach that calls for a re-orientation of mindset and generating energy around visions and possibilities, rather than problem-solving.

Raisinga funds to build a multipurpose resource centre.
African Rural University (ARU) partnered with Moonatic Agency to tell their story and diversify their income sources. Mustardseed Trust previously collaborated with Moonatic Agency on our newsletter, building a trusted relationship. Together, they visualised ARU’s story and work, creating a dedicated fundraising website, and improving social media presence. The Mustardseed executive team dedicated time each week to identify potential funding opportunities for ARU. You can explore their new website here.

Wageningen University & ARU
Students Consultancy and Exchange
Knowledge and experience exchange
With students of Wageningen University
Africa Rural University (ARU) welcomed three students from Wageningen University through the “Students Consultancy Project”. This visit connected six Masters students from Wageningen University to ARU. The students from Wageningen learned from ARU’s visioning approach, in exchange they wrote a plan for ARU’s future development.
Through ARU, young women are now developing 20 rural districts in Uganda.
Through the future development plan, new website and newly raised funds, ARU can continue their work as an all-women university transforming rural Uganda. They also transferred knowledge on successful approaches to development to students overseas.
